Dr. Seuss Dr. Seuss was loved by many children and adults, but before he began creating his beloved children's books, he was a cartoonsit for ads. He created many popular ads until he started writing children's books. "And to Think That I Saw it on Mulberry Street" was Dr. Seuss's first children's book. His most famous book, "The Cat in the Hat" was in fact his thirteenth book.
Dr. Seuss also expressed his political views in his children's books."The Sneetches" was about star bellied sneetches mistreating plain bellied sneetches .Suess used these silly sneetches to express his view on segregation. "Yertle the Turtle" was about a turtle who built an empire on top of his suffering citizens. It is clear that he is creating a different character for Adolf Hitler. He also created many political cartoons for this time. They mostly mocked leaders of the Axis Powers in World War 2. Most of Dr. Seuss's books contained many different forms of rhyme, rhythm, and meter because he mostly prefered poetry. He was very creative with his poems by making up different names for plants and aminals and also combining different words, creating a new vocabulary. The word "nerd" first appered in Seuss's "If I Ran the Zoo". Unfortunatly, he wasn't known very well for his poetry, but he was still brilliant in everyway. I appreciate Dr. Seuss's work because i love how he literaly created a new world with his writing. When reading his books, I can tell how much he loved his job. I also appreciate how his themes really showed in his literature, so that way kids and adults can learn important life lessons in a fun and enjoyable way. I've been reading Dr. Seuss ever since i was little and his fun filled stories will always be a joy to read:) Sources: www.seussville.com |
